The Fine Print, Plainly

Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 8, 2026

TrueSummit (“TrueSummit,” “we,” “us”) is a personal budgeting and net-worth app. This policy explains what data the app handles, how it’s used, and the choices you have. TrueSummit is built so your financial data stays as private as possible — most of it never leaves your device unless you turn on cloud sync.

Information we collect

  • Account information. When you create an account, we collect your email address to authenticate you and sync your data across your devices.
  • Financial information you add or connect. Transactions, balances, budgets, goals, categories, and net-worth figures. If you link a bank through Plaid, we receive account and transaction data from your financial institutions. On Apple devices, if you grant permission, TrueSummit reads Apple Card, Apple Cash, and Savings activity through Apple’s FinanceKit.
  • Content you create. Notes, memos, tags, and — if you use receipt scanning — photos of receipts. Receipt images are processed and stored on your device.
  • Identifiers. An account identifier used to associate your synced data with you.

We do not collect your bank login credentials — those are handled directly between you, Plaid, and your bank, and never reach TrueSummit’s servers.

How we use your information

  • To provide core app functionality: budgeting, forecasting, reports, and net-worth tracking.
  • To authenticate you and, if enabled, sync your data across your devices and with household members you invite.
  • To keep the service secure and prevent fraud and abuse.

We do not use your data for advertising, we do not sell your data, and we do not use it to track you across other apps or websites.

AI insights

How TrueSummit generates insights depends on your device:

  • Apple devices. Insights are generated on your device using Apple Intelligence. Your transactions are not sent to a server to produce them.
  • Android devices. Insights are generated using Google’s Gemini API. To produce an insight, relevant financial details (such as amounts, categories, and merchant names) are sent to Google’s Gemini service, processed to return the insight, and used only for that purpose. See Google’s terms at ai.google.dev/gemini-api/terms.

In all cases, your financial data is never sold and is never used for advertising.

Cloud sync and local-only mode

Cloud sync lets you use TrueSummit across devices and share a budget with your household. You can turn on “Keep data on this device only” in Settings → Privacy & Data. This stops all cloud syncing — including cross-device and household sharing — so your data stays on your device. Note that linked banks still use the internet to fetch new transactions.

Third-party services

TrueSummit relies on a small number of service providers who process data on our behalf:

  • Supabase — authentication and encrypted cloud storage/sync of your account and financial data.
  • Plaid — secure connections to your bank and delivery of account and transaction data. See Plaid’s privacy practices at plaid.com/legal.
  • Apple — App Store in-app purchases/subscriptions and, with your permission, FinanceKit data.
  • Google (Gemini API) — on Android only, generates your AI insights. Relevant financial details are sent to Google to produce each insight. See Google’s Gemini API terms.
  • Merchant logo service (optional). The “Show merchant logos” setting is off by default. When you turn it on, merchant names from your transactions are sent to a logo service to fetch icons. This is the only feature that sends transaction-derived data off your device, and you can turn it off at any time.

Data storage and security

Data transmitted between the app and our providers is encrypted in transit (HTTPS/TLS). Sensitive tokens are stored in the device Keychain. You can protect the app with Face ID, Touch ID, or your device passcode. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we work to protect your information using industry-standard measures.

Your choices and rights

  • Export. Settings → Privacy & Data → “Export All My Data” produces a complete JSON copy of your data.
  • Delete. You can erase your cloud data from the same screen, and delete the app to remove local data. To request deletion of any remaining account data, contact us.
  • Disconnect. You can unlink banks and switch to local-only mode at any time.

Data retention

We retain your account and synced data while your account is active. When you delete your cloud data or request account deletion, we remove it from our systems, except where we must retain limited records to comply with legal obligations.

Subscriptions

TrueSummit offers a 30-day free trial followed by auto-renewable subscriptions. Purchases and renewals are processed by Apple; we do not receive or store your payment card details. You can manage or cancel a subscription in your Apple ID settings.

Children

TrueSummit is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, noted in the app.
